Welcome to Prowess Strength and Conditioning. We’re excited to serve the youth and adults of Peterborough and the Kawarthas ranging in age from 12 and up and to adults of all ages, abilities and experiences.
At Prowess Strength and Conditioning we’re committed to changing the lives of the people of Peterborough and surrounding area based on a philosophy of Love, Honour and Respect.
Using science based principles of smart training and long term athletic development our mission is to create an experience for you that is second to none. Our goal is to help you exceed your goals by maximizing your results while at the same time keeping you injury free.
We deliver a systematic approach that’s been developed and refined over the past thirty years by world renowned Strength and Conditioning Coach Michael Boyle of Michael Boyle Strength and Conditioning in Boston, MA. Michael is currently the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the USA Women’s National Hockey Team and has worked the last two seasons with the Boston Red Sox as well as thousands of athletes over the years including middle school, high school, collegiate and professionals.
Prowess Strength and Conditioning offers two Programs of Distinction for the youth and adults of Peterborough:
1. Athlete Development and Sports Performance Programs
2. Adult Functional Training Programs
Athlete Development and Sports Performance Programs
The Athlete Development and Sports Performance Programs are designed for youth athletes age twelve and up. They focus on developing the complete athlete making them stronger, faster and more powerful. Each workout consists of functionally sound movement training, strength training and conditioning with a strong focus on basic and proper technique. The workout becomes progressively more challenging as basic techniques become mastered. Programs focus on the following athletic skills and traits:
• Speed – Acceleration, Deceleration, Linear and Lateral Movement Techniques, Running Mechanics, Footwork
• Explosive Power – Plyometrics, Medicine Ball, Jumping & Landing Techniques
• Strength – Functional Approach, Thorough Instruction, Focus on Upper Body, Lower Body and Core
• Conditioning – Game Ready Preparation for all Athletes.
• Flexibility and Mobility – Myofascial Release (Foam Rolling), Various Forms of Stretching and Muscle Activation
• Injury Reduction – Identify and Correct Muscular Imbalances, Balance and Stabilization
• Nutrition Education – Lessons, Tips and Education
• North Star Minds – Developing Resiliency and Building Mental Toughness
Adult Functional Training Programs
The Adult Functional Training Programs have a similar approach to the Athlete Development and Performance Programs. Our Program is tailored specifically to your needs as an adult training client. We meet you where you’re at regardless of your training and exercise experience.
Whether your goal is fat loss, injury rehabilitation or to simply get in a great workout, Prowess Strength and Conditioning caters to your needs regardless of your age and fitness level. Each session focuses on improving soft tissue quality, flexibility, mobility, and increasing upper and lower body power, building full body strength and enhancing cardiovascular fitness. Simply put, the Adult Functional Training Programs at Prowess Strength and Conditioning are designed to help you move better and become healthier than you have ever thought possible.
Both of the aforementioned Programs of Distinction are offered as Private One-On-One Personal Training or in Small Group Training with a maximum of four per group allowing for detailed personal attention at each and every session.
We also offer Team Training for Youth Sport Teams where Prowess Strength and Conditioning coaches travel to you making it convenient for you as a youth sport coach or manager, your players and their parents/guardians.
